Afentis Christos
(Christ the Lord)

The church of Christ the Lord is located in the Samaria National Park, close to the now-abandoned village of the same name. It is believed to date from the 18th century.
It is a long, narrow, single-nave church, roofed with a pointed barrel vault without supporting arches. Externally, the roof is formed with a gable roof covered with rough stone slabs superimposed on each other.
The total dimensions of the building are approximately 6.27 x 4.20 x 3.83 m. (length x width x height), while the entrance to the interior is achieved through a rectangular doorway with a semi-circular relief arch on the west wall, while the interior of the lintel consists of simple wooden elements.
The only other opening in the church is the window in the conch of the apse, a small rectangular opening lacking sculptural decoration or other notable features.
Inside and outside the church is plastered with mortar, while in the northern and southern part of the arch, traces of staircase windows from the period of its construction can still be seen. Another feature is that the floor of the church is covered with natural slabs of local stone.
The church has undergone minor interventions which have not affected its architecture, mainly with regard to the layout of the surrounding area and the conservation of the plasterwork.
